EC Green Taxation: New Plastic Tax & CO2 Tax
The European Council has approved the implementation of a plastic tax from 1 Jan 2021 (EUR 0.80 per kg plastic). Also, a new form of CO2 tax is on the table to finance the Covid-19 EU recovery fund of EUR 750 bn along with – once again – a financial transaction tax.
The question remains: Will the current COVID-19 crises triggre a global wave of green taxation?
